Quito in May: La Carolina or Metropolitano?

May provides a transition perspective. Choosing the actual park is more useful than promising a dry family outing.
Choose the park for the day you want
La Carolina forms part of everyday urban life in northern Quito. A smaller park session can sit between city visits without a hiking programme. Check actual proximity to accommodation and suitable entrances. For families, easy access may matter more than a longer journey to a dramatic panorama.
Parque Metropolitano Guangüiltagua offers a larger natural setting with different paths and slopes. Select a suitable circuit deliberately. Maps, elevation and surfaces should match the group. An entire park is not one easy route and is not described that way.
Botanical visit or free park time
Jardín Botánico de Quito is a separate visit around La Carolina. Confirm openings, admission and the subject you want. If plants are the focus, a large circuit of every park section is unnecessary. No particular flower or animal determines whether the day succeeds.
Free park time can be enough too. Children benefit from nearby meals and a reliable return option. Decide when outdoor time can be interrupted rather than waiting until every path is completed or rain has become heavy.
Stay flexible in transition
This May plan follows actual conditions. Rain may affect nature paths differently from urban surfaces. Confirm access before starting a larger circuit. The urban Iñaquito climate reference does not describe every higher park slope.
Give culture and Mitad del Mundo other days. Neither park must prove that an entire week can be spent outside. The value is suitable urban greenery and a break from sightseeing rather than the longest distance walked.
