WHY NOW
For one day, the street becomes a work of art.
Corpus Christi is celebrated in La Orotava on 4 June 2026. Streets and squares are decorated with intricate carpets made from blossoms and sand from Mount Teide. The large design in Plaza del Ayuntamiento is particularly famous.
Why choose this date?
The celebration reveals a side of Tenerife that has little to do with a conventional beach holiday. Months of preparation culminate in works of art that exist for only a short time.
June in the green north
At this time of year, northern Tenerife offers plenty of opportunities for exploring towns, the coast and hiking trails. Higher elevations often feel considerably cooler than the shore.
Make La Orotava part of a northern itinerary
Combine the festival day with Puerto de la Cruz, Garachico, La Laguna or Anaga. That turns one event into a varied island holiday.
Arrive in La Orotava early on 4 June.
Expect large crowds.
For hiking, continue to consider elevation and current weather.

June
Very good
The south coast starts feeling distinctly summery. Good for beaches; choose early starts or cooler higher routes for longer hikes. Trade-wind clouds do not automatically mean rain in the north.

North Tenerife gets noisy on 29 November: people race down steep streets on wooden boards in Icod de los Vinos, while metal objects rattle through Puerto de la Cruz, alongside new wine and chestnuts.
