WHY NOW

A Saturday when St Pauli becomes one huge parade.

Hamburg's Schlagermove takes place on Saturday 4 July 2026. About 50 trucks and floats travel from Heiligengeistfeld through St Pauli, past Hafenstraße, the Fish Market and the Reeperbahn, before returning to the starting point.

The parade begins in the afternoon and winds through St Pauli for several hours. Additional parties and events take place over the weekend.

Enjoy Hamburg outdoors in summer

July offers long evenings for walks beside the Elbe and Alster, harbour ferries and city parks. Northern German weather is still changeable and generally less reliably hot than farther south.

More than an event weekend

If you visit for Schlagermove, add at least two quieter days. Speicherstadt, HafenCity, the Elbe beach and walks along the Alster reveal very different sides of Hamburg.

  • Expect road closures in St Pauli on 4 July.
  • Use public transport instead of driving.
  • Choose other neighbourhoods for quieter evenings.
