WHY NOW

A summer evening when the whole lake glows.

Bled Summer brings music and food to the lakeside promenade. Its traditional highlight, held on the penultimate Saturday of July, sees roughly 10,000 lights set afloat in eggshells; in 2026 that date is 18 July.

The floating lights are part of Bled's summer programme and accompanied by food and music. The event lends even more atmosphere to an already popular lakeside destination.

Why visit Bled now?

July is high season on Lake Bled, at Bohinj and along the lower trails of the Julian Alps. Valley temperatures can rise, so a Coolcation works best with early starts and shady or higher destinations during the warmer hours.

Beyond the lake

If staying several nights, add Bohinj, Pokljuka and other areas of the Julian Alps. That turns the festival weekend into a varied lakes-and-mountains trip.

  • Expect especially heavy visitor numbers on 18 July.
  • Start hikes early in the day.
  • Adjust mountain activities promptly if thunderstorms threaten.
