YOUR HOLIDAY. COMFORTABLY DIFFERENT.
Alpe di Siusi is a great Coolcation destination if you take its elevation seriously and do not use the hot valley floor as your climate reference.
The high plateau combines easy trails, extensive views and good facilities. Longer hikes, via ferratas and the surrounding Dolomites demand experience, weather awareness and time.
Even here August can feel warm. The rewards are early starts, cooler evenings and the striking difference between the valley and the alpine pastures.
Staying around Castelrotto, Siusi or Alpe di Siusi works particularly well when cable cars, buses and arrival arrangements suit your daily plans.
This guide covers Alpe di Siusi (Seiser Alm), the Sciliar/Schlern area, Castelrotto/Kastelruth and Siusi allo Sciliar/Seis am Schlern. Bolzano and the hot valley towns are explicitly not the climate reference. The figures describe the highland location; the valleys are considerably warmer.
PLACES THAT STAY WITH YOU
Three ways to enjoy a Dolomites week at a realistic pace.

Gentle to moderate walks across sweeping landscapes. Set off early in peak season and plan for strong sunshine and thunderstorms.

Classic Dolomites scenery. Match the length of each hike and the weather window honestly to your group.

A welcome contrast to mountain trails: meals, short walks and a less hurried daily rhythm.
A starting point and transport hub for the plateau.
A small waterside break below the high-altitude trails.
Convenient for more mountain lifts and Dolomites excursions.
