WHY NOW
A Sunday when almost every major part of Copenhagen is on the route.
The Copenhagen Marathon takes place on 10 May 2026. A sell-out field of 25,000 runners is registered. The course passes through Indre By, Østerbro, Christianshavn, Vesterbro, Nørrebro and Frederiksberg.
Why it is exciting for spectators too
The marathon passes through many familiar neighbourhoods and features music and refreshment points along the route. Watching the race can therefore feel like an unusual city tour.
May suits Copenhagen
Green spring scenery, longer days and generally more comfortable temperatures make cycling and walking appealing.
Getting around on 10 May
Large sections of the course are closed to vehicles. Plan to use the metro, suburban trains and walking routes if you are visiting that day.
Avoid driving through the centre on 10 May.
Add a coastal excursion before or after marathon day.
Bring a warm extra layer for the evening.
