A Christmas market reached across the water.

The Christmas market on Fraueninsel takes place on 26–29 November and 3–6 December 2026.

Why this destination belongs in the Christmas series

Chiemsee is no longer a swimming or cycling destination in Advent. Instead, the island setting becomes the special experience: the boat journey itself separates the market from everyday life on the mainland.

More than 80 exhibitors on a small island

Crafts, regional products and food stalls are spread across Fraueninsel. Limited space creates a concentrated yet distinctive market layout.

The timetable is part of the Christmas market

Unlike a town market, the boat connection needs to be included from the start. Weather, the last return sailing and potential crowds all affect how relaxed the evening will be.

Do not automatically add Herreninsel

Less is more on short winter days. To include Herrenchiemsee, coordinate opening hours and boat connections carefully or allow a second overnight stay.
